Bio: David KaferDavid Kafer, Master Stylist/Co-Owner of RED 7 SALON, has been a notable hair stylist within the Chicagoland area for well over nineteen years with an impressive list of repeat clients from all walks of life. Since the opening of RED 7 SALON, Inc. in 2002, the company has been recognized as Best Salon in Chicago 2004 by Chicago Magazine, as well as named TOP 200 salon in the country by Salon Today Magazine for years 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005. RED 7 SALON, Inc. has also expanded the company to include a second salon location, which opened in Evanston in 2006. RED 7 SALON, Inc. has been and will continue to be a leader in education, establishing their Assistant Training Program in 2004, as well as two student scholarships given out each year. Prior to opening RED 7 SALON, Kafer was the Lead Stylist at Tiffani Kim Institute (TKI), a popular wellness center, spa, and salon within the Chicago art district, where he also created and implemented their ongoing educational program for staff stylists as the Director of Education. As TKI's Director of Education, Kafer was promoted as a Featured Artist by SalonQuest.com and was their Master Stylist representative at the Midwest Beauty Show 2001. Prior to his work at TKI, Kafer held a top stylist position at Marianne Strokirk Salon (MSS), a leading Chicago salon that has been featured in various media, including: national magazines, international television shows, and industry-leading hair exhibits. Kafer managed and taught numerous up-and-coming stylists on modern methods, timeless cuts, and offering personable service to their clients by leading a rigorous assistant-training program, which he co-created. Kafer was a supportive mentor to countless stylists, offering both a fashion-forward approach and a down-to-earth attitude. While at MSS, Kafer participated in and co-organized various runway shows, trade conventions, television appearances, and photo shoots. He has also traveled abroad to London to participate in top educational seminars through the Alternative Hair Show, an ever-modern annual event overseas. Prior to his tenure at MSS, Kafer worked with Heidi's Salon, another industry-leading salon recognized within the Chicagoland area, where he quickly began building his solid and loyal clientele. Kafer's own Sassoon-based training focused primarily on precision cutting, mixing both classic shapes with fresh techniques, and utilizing creative ingenuity - qualities he continually practices today. Throughout his career, Kafer has made multiple guest appearances on FOX's Ambush Makeover, The Jenny Jones Show, ABC Channel 7 Morning News with Janet Davies, NBC Channel 5 Morning Show, WNND FM 100.3 "Hits of the 80's & 90's", WBBM-FM 96.3, and WLUP-FM 97.9 "The Loop". He was also Lead Stylist for the critically recognized independent film, Beyond Normal. The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, Today's Chicago Woman, Chicago Social, SalonNews magazine, Snipmagazine.com, and the River North Association have all recognized Kafer for his artistic work within the industry. Most recently, Kafer was the Keynote speaker at the Pivot Point International 2007graduation ceremony, sharing his insight into the industry with approximately 400 people. Kafer also strongly believes in giving back to his community through his many donations of time, talent, and money to the following organizations: Y-ME, Bottomless Closet, The Cradle, Look Good.Feel Better, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Teach for America, and the Junior League of Chicago. .
